In this second installment of our 10-part biography, we explore Bob Fioretti's transformative economic impact. Bob has always understood that a thriving community starts with family-sustaining jobs and accessible services. Throughout his tenure, he has been a catalyst for growth, bringing essential investment back into the neighborhoods that needed it most.
Bob played a pivotal role in major moves that shaped the city, supporting United Airlines’ relocation to the Loop and the expansion of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. His work on the Rush Medical Center redevelopment alone secured 500 positions specifically for local residents. Over his career he secured over 8,000 jobs.
Ending Food Deserts
Bob successfully brought Pete’s Fresh Market to underserved areas, ensuring access to healthy food for all.
Green Space Legacy
He championed the Mary Bartelme Park, recognizing the need for more parks named after pioneering women while revitalizing urban green space. Bob earned recognition from Friends of the Parks.
Bringing Jobs to his Ward
Bob played a key role in attracting Target to his ward, significantly enhancing economic opportunities by bringing jobs and retail to an underserved area of the city.
Costco to the West Side Area
Building a much-needed Costco in his ward created jobs and improved access to nutritious food. Bob also brought a Trader Joe's to the area.
The Future of Illinois
Bob is an experienced attorney and dedicated public servant. His experience is exactly what we need to protect workers, consumers, and small businesses as Illinois Attorney General. This background is important for this role. Bob knows the laws and regulations that affect businesses, workers, consumers, and communities. He understands that the government must protect the public without favoring big corporations over small businesses and everyday people.
As Attorney General, Bob will fight against fraud, protect workers and consumers, promote fair competition, and make sure Illinois remains a place where responsible businesses can invest and create jobs.
He is traveling around the state to meet with workers, entrepreneurs, farmers, professionals, and community leaders who keep Illinois moving.
